Start with a stable question set

Build prompts from genuine buyer tasks: defining the category, comparing approaches, finding suppliers, evaluating risk, and validating a shortlist. Segment by market and buying stage. Keep the benchmark fixed long enough to compare changes.

Separate the signals

Measure mentions, citations, accuracy, position or prominence, sentiment, and referral traffic separately. A brand can be mentioned without being cited, cited without being recommended, or recommended with an inaccurate description. One score hides those differences.

Record the engine, model or mode, date, location where relevant, and the exact prompt. AI answers are probabilistic and product interfaces change; measurement without context creates false certainty.

Inspect the source landscape

Look beyond the answer to the sources shaping it. Which publishers, directories, communities, product pages, documentation, and comparison sites recur? Classify what you own, what you can update, what you may earn, and what sits outside your control.

Connect visibility to business evidence

Use AI-referral analytics, self-reported attribution, sales notes, and assisted-conversion paths. None is complete alone. Together they help distinguish increased machine visibility from increased commercial consideration.

Evidence boundary

AI Search changes quickly. We distinguish established search guidance from emerging hypotheses and do not treat a model response as proof of a durable outcome.
